Rules Relating To Registered, Nominated, and 'Tied' Players


To avoid penalties being imposed upon the Club, all team captains are requested to make themselves aware of the following rules relating to the selection and availability of members to play in Wilson Staffordshire Tennis League matches. These restrictions DO NOT apply to matches played in the Birmingham Metropolitan Spring and Summer Leagues, or the AEGON League.

11.1 - Each club must submit a list of players from which teams will be selected. This list must be submitted to the appropriate Divisional Secretary at the League representatives Meeting prior to the commencement of the season. Any additions or deletions of players must be notified and approved by the Divisional Secretary before the player concerned can play for any of the club's teams.

11.2 - Where a club has more than one team, then each team, other than the lowest, shall nominate three players and shall submit these names in writing to the appropriate Divisional Secretary at the League representatives Meeting prior to the commencement of the season.

11.3 - Nominated players shall, under no circumstances, play for a lower team. If a nominated player is not selected to play in any one of the first THREE matches after such nomination then that nominated player must be replaced by another nominated player before the third match is played and may not play for a lower team other than with the agreement of the League Committee.
11.4 - Exceptions or changes in nominated players during a season shall be considered by the League Committee only after receiving written submission from the team concerned.

11.5 - A player in a lower team of a Club may only play twice for any higher team. On the third appearance, the player shall automatically become a member of the next higher team for which the player has played and must not make further appearances in any lower team. This rule also applies where a Club has two or more teams in the same division.

11.6 - When a nominated player in a lower team becomes excluded from that team because of three or more appearances in a higher team, then a replacement nominated player must be identified. The name of this player must be submitted to the appropriate Divisional Secretary before any other of the lower teams' matches are played.
